An East Coast Wedding | The Details Part II

November 19th, 2024

September 29th, 2023, I stood by my best friend’s side on her wedding day and consulted all of the small yet beautifully thoughtful details that went into it. Although she had a day-of coordinator, everything was planned by us, and I couldn’t have been prouder of the outcome. Jackie pulled off one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve seen, and I feel so many brides out there could benefit from sharing every detail, and the thought processes behind them in assisting in curating their own special day.

Getting Ready

While our hair and make-up was done at the hotel, we then relocated to the Belle Mer, where we popped the champagne and the photos began. The venue came with endless mirrors, a kitchen, drink service, and even steamers. We went simple and affordable Bridesmaid's Robes for the getting-ready pajamas. Jackie went with embellished Pajamas and a timeless Hollywood-inspired wave by Ali Lomazzoa and makeup by Christina Kaian. She packaged our gifts in the cutest Out East Bags with Watercolor Name Tags.

The Bridal Look

Jackie went with a silky slip gown that formed to her body found her Dress and Veil from BHLDN. She wanted a simple look that highlighted her features with simple pearl Earrings, Loffner Randal Shoes and the coastal veil. I think if she had any regrets about this piece it was the tailor she chose. Her tailor required 6 fittings, and it was unnecessary, adding seams where they didn’t need to be. She looked drop-dead gorgeous, but I share this, so hopefully you don’t fall into a similar trap of perfecting something that doesn’t need that level of tailoring!

The Groom's Look

Mitch's look played right into the blue theme with his custom tailored suit. Jackie wanted his tie to be a silvery blue to go well with his eyes, and he's never looked better!!! MODEL! I love how the rest of the party wore white ties, so he had a special pop against everyone. They kept only the top button buttoned, and it was a nice polished look without being too formal.

The Bridal Party's Look

Jackie wanted to carry the blue theme into the bridal party, while giving her bridesmaid’s the freedom to decide the shade and style of their dress. Jenny Yoo had the silky slip dresses we decided between, and Jackie gifted each with a set of pearl earrings.

The Flowers

The perfect ratio of blue, white and greenery was so important to us, and Jackie's florist nailed it! We wanted the perfect blend of blues, whites and greenery, and this florist nailed it.

The Ceremony

The couple chose to ultimately have their ceremony inside due to weather, but it didn’t take away from the sentiment behind the extremely special moment. The couple chose to read their own vows, and it turned out to be most guest’s favorite part of the wedding.

The Reception

When planning the décor for the reception, we had a beautiful clean white slate to work with that was set up against a gorgeous oceanfront view that spoke for itself. We mixed highs and lows with the flowers and light blue touches in the signage and paper goods’ font. Choosing to add color in the flowers and menus, her table settings were kept a clean white. Ancillary tables dressed in gauze consisted of a guest book table with polaroids and in loving memory tribute to family members that couldn't be there.

The Ancillary Tables

From the guest book to the In Loving Memory, Jackie stayed consistent with her theme, and that's what creates a cohesive overall look and experience.

The Dance Floor

Jackie wanted to have a second look she could comfortably dance in for the rest of the night, and it was a VIBE!! She was the life of the party, and her dress had a huge part in that. We were on the fence sending measurements online for a custom fit from Etsy, but it fit like a freaking glove! She looked INCREDIBLE! It was my favorite look of the weekend.

The DJ did a great job following our cues by playing the songs that spoke to every group there. My favorite parts of the night were the various cultural moments, such as the traditional Jewish songs that had us swinging each other and tossing the bride and groom, or when the Italian side insisted on having their own moment as a result with Amore. There was no lack of energy, and I believe it's thanks to the music playing to every guest at the wedding in some way.

The After Party Venue

Having a place for your guests to head after the venue reaches its cap is always a bit of an afterthought, and luckily, Newport’s downtown was on the route the shuttles took to the room block, so we went straight to One Pelham East where we found live music and all of the younger guests were able to have a spot to post up.
